Tips for Selling your House

Selling your house can be a stressful time. Our agents are trained to help you through this transitional time period. Our agents will help you with a list of things that will make your property show better to potential buyers.

There are many things that should be done before listing a property for sale. The most important is to clean, clean, clean! Remember the first impression can be the last impression you have to get a buyer interested in your house.

  1. Clean inside and outside.
  2. Touch up any paint that needs it, both inside and outside.
  3. Does your property have curb appeal? Does your house look welcoming from the street? Could you trim trees, bushes or shrubs to improve the look? Do you need to weed the garden? Could planting some bright pretty flowers make the property more inviting?
  4. Clear away ALL clutter. De-personalize your house. Remember that you want prospective buyers to visually their family in the house.
  5. Stage the home. Remove half of everything in closets and cabinets. Should certain pieces of furniture be removed to make the room look more open?
  6. Remove pets and their paraphernalia before all showings. Make sure that it is not obvious that you have pets. While most people love animals; no one wants to buy a house that smells like a kennel! Make sure all odors are eliminated.
  7. Make sure all the lights are working, and the home is bright and well lit.

  1. Thank you for talking about how staging your house can help you sell it faster. It makes sense that doing this and building a peaceful environment can help potential buyers want to make a deal. I would imagine that finding a real estate agent who knows their stuff would help you get the best deal you can.

  2. Anyone who wants to sell their home should listen to these tips. One of the most important ones you mentioned is curb appeal. To me, if I see a house that doesn’t stick out from the curb, than I am not going to go inside for a closer look!

  3. I liked your advice for staging my home. At first, I thought that my house just had to look clean for potential buyers. Making my home look more open by removing my furniture and everything in my closets and cabinets seems like it could help buyers envision themselves living in my home. I hope that trying that tip will help make my home easier to sell. Thanks for the tips!
